New Tata Nano GenX AMT

Tata Motors has finally revealed the new Nano Genx with AMT unit at its official Facebook page. The company also stated that the advance bookings for the same would open shortly across all its dealerships, hinting that the launch is quite near. New Tata Nano Genx comes with several cosmetic changes at the outside, alongside the updated boot space, transmission and tail gate.

The new Nano Genx flaunts a restyled front bumper with a broad honeycomb "infinity grille" and round fog lamps. There are smoked headlamps in place of the conventional headlamps seen on the current crop of Nanos. In addition, the thin chrome strip on the bonnet has gone for a toss in favour of a more attractive and contemporary thick black unit with an integrated Tata logo. New Tata Nano Genx rides on steel wheels with full wheel caps. Coming to the rear end of the Nano Genx, it now features a openable tail gate with 110 litres of boot space. Also, there is a new windscreen with a redesigned bumper and honeycomb grille. The fuel tank is also bigger now with capacity of 24-litres.

Inside the cabin, the new Tata Nano Genx boasts a new steering wheel, while the rest of the interior is carried over from the ongoing models of the small car. It remains unchanged mechanically, except for the inclusion of an AMT unit. The company has claimed that the AMT gearbox in accordance with the electric power assisted steering (EPAS) would make it easier to drive in thick traffic and narrow roads, especially for women drivers. (There are chances that the Nano AMT might be powered by the new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, but it seems more realistic that the 624cc engine two-cylinder engine found in the current model is expected to continue duty.)

 The GenX Nano will be available in seven body colours - Damson purple, Sangriya Red, Royal Gold, Dazzle Blue, Pearl White, Meteor Silver, Persian Rose.
